Exhibiting Stag X
Southampton University Formula Student (SUFST) team displayed their latest car, Stag X, at the Beaulieu Supercar Weekend, held on 3rd-4th August. The must-see event for all supercar enthusiasts, bringing some of the world’s most exclusive and desirable motors in one place. Sponsored by the motor museum, this was the team's second appearance at the prestigious event. Following their exhibition at the Beaulieu Custom and American Show last month, SUFST found showcasing their work at these events highly beneficial for gaining exposure and networking with automotive enthusiasts.
SUFST members actively participated in the event by preparing Stag X for exhibition and engaging with the audience. This hands-on experience provided valuable learning opportunities. Students honed their technical skills by cleaning the car's intricate aero bodywork package, carefully removing it for transportation, and meticulously reattaching it for display.
Team members played a crucial role in interacting with the public. They enthusiastically discussed SUFST's development, the car's capabilities, the recently attended Formula Student UK competition, and the University of Southampton's academic offerings. This platform facilitated valuable connections with industry professionals and car enthusiasts.
The SUFST team's dedication and passion resonated with attendees, organisers, and staff alike:
An Aspiring Engineer's Inspiration: "I can't wait to attend the next University of Southampton open day to see the facilities and other projects available," remarked an A-level student considering engineering at the University.
"It was interesting to see a student-built car at the event," commented a fellow exhibitor, acknowledging the team's impressive achievement.
"The car looks great, and it's nice to see what students are working on," praised an event staff member.
"Seems like a great experience for the students, we didn't have access to these sorts of projects back in my day," shared an attendee.
The event attracted a large audience of car enthusiasts, including potential students and industry professionals. This exposure broadened awareness of SUFST, and the University of Southampton's commitment to fostering innovation in engineering and motorsport.
The positive feedback from attendees and fellow exhibitors further enhances SUFST's positive reputation as a student motorsport team, attracting future talent and potential partnerships.
SUFST's successful outing at the Beaulieu Supercar Weekend highlights their interest in inspiring the next generation of innovators and significantly enhances the SUFST and the University of Southampton profile within the engineering and motorsport communities.
