P2 in the championship!
Here is a recap the final round of the Formula Student UK Sim Race Series held at the Williams Experience Centre. The day began with a quick briefing, followed by an incredible tour of the Williams Experience Centre car exhibits, where we had the chance to see some of the championship-winning Formula One cars up close. A big thank you to Williams for this amazing experience!
The competition then moved into the Qualifying Heats. Each team participated in four heats, which together determined the starting positions for the final race. Between the heats, we were treated to a delicious lunch, adding to the overall fantastic experience.
In Qualifying Heat 1, Sandeep drove a Mazda MX-5 at Nürburgring, starting in P7 and finishing in P4. Qualifying Heat 2 saw Theo in an F4 at Mosport, starting in P13 and moving up to P10. Heat 3 had Alessio driving a Mercedes-Benz 190 Evo II at Norisring, starting in P6 and finishing impressively in P2. The final qualifying heat featured Theo in a Praga R1 at Imola, where he started in P7 and finished in P4.
The final race was intense. Sandeep took the wheel of a Porsche 911 GT1 at Silverstone, starting in P5 and finishing in P4. Despite the tough competition, our team's performance was commendable.
Reflecting on our achievements in this three-year-old competition, our team has impressively finished 1st, 2nd, and 2nd. Congratulations to Glasgow for their clean sweep of the Engineering Challenges and their P1 in the championship, and well done to all the teams who participated. We'll be back next year, aiming to reclaim that 1st place spot!
Overall it was a great experience, and we look forward to competing again next year!
