Showcasing STAG X and meeting Guy Martin!
At the end of October, the team exhibited at one of Europe’s largest engineering and manufacturing exhibitions, Advanced Engineering. On display was our 2023/24 electric race car Stag X. Across the event we had the opportunity to talk to sector leading companies, including composite lay-up organisations, allowing the team to ask questions about our current processes and learn how to improve our techniques.
Having the car on display at the show allowed some of our current sponsors to see Stag X for the first time and learn how their direct support benefits the team and the education of future engineers. It also allowed us to find new sponsors and show them the project they would be supporting. Our car was exhibited alongside Warwick Racing, a fellow electric Formula Student team, and allowed our teams for connect across multiple departments, to share knowledge and ask questions. We also fielded queries from other Formula Student teams who attended the show, and we had the opportunity to connect and answer any questions they had.
The show had many 6th Form students who are interested in pursuing a STEM education at university, and our members explained both their experiences at the University of Southampton itself and in STEM courses, answering their questions and giving them an insight into amazing university projects like Formula Student.
