It's that time of year, IDW!
We are thrilled to share the exciting developments following our recent Intensive Design Week (IDW) and Alumni Day, both integral components of our journey towards engineering excellence.
What is the Intensive Design Week
From September 25th to 29th, our committee immersed themselves in the design and planning during the Intensive Design Week. This week-long endeavour served as a concentrated effort to refine our plans and designs for the upcoming year, with a primary focus on this year’s car, STAG X, and its reliability.
Why do we do an IDW?
The IDW provided a dedicated time for our committee to collaborate designs and strategize plans. It laid the foundation to bring STAG X to life. The week was a full of creativity, innovation, and teamwork as we tackled the challenges of the upcoming year head-on.
Alumni Day: A Gathering of Expertise
Following the IDW, we hosted an Alumni Day, where former team members returned to share their wealth of knowledge and experience. Our Alumni Day welcomed Placements and Graduates from prestigious positions, companies and industries; including Formula One Teams, Dassault, Nissan and Babcock just to name a few. They work in diverse roles spanning engineering, aerodynamics, electronics, and more. Their experience and expertise added new perspectives to our discussions and contributed invaluable insights that helped shape our future efforts.
Benefits of Alumni Day
Invaluable Advice - Our Alumni offered constructive feedback on our progress, plans, and designs. Their advice serves as a guide for our team's future.
Networking Opportunities - The event provided an excellent networking platform for current team members to connect with successful professionals, growing relationships that extend outside of our university. This was also a chance of old to meet new in a semi-social situation, keeping the links to our Alumni alive.
Industry Insights - Alumni Day offered a glimpse into the trends, challenges, and innovations within the motorsport and engineering industries.
Thanks to our Alumni for their contribution of time, expertise, and support. Their presence during Alumni Day was instrumental in shaping our vision and refining our plans. We are truly fortunate to have such a dedicated and knowledgeable network of individuals supporting our journey.
